<p>The 2.4L ECOTEC^&reg; DOHC direct injection 4-cylinder engine exhibits spirited performance via its Spark Ignition Direct Injection (SIDI) configuration and Variable Valve Timing (VVT), which helps to optimize torque across a wide range of engine speeds.</p><p>This engine is also extremely fuel efficient¹ &ndash; simply pressing the ECO button allows you to switch to a fuel-saving mode, which can increase your vehicle&rsquo;s fuel economy when compared to normal operation. All Equinox&reg; models feature a smooth-shifting 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and electronic range select. This transmission also features a hill-hold assist function, which makes it easier to shift out of Park when the vehicle is parked on a hill.

Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist on Equinox^&reg; 2LT or LTZ takes the fear&nbsp;factor out of parallel parking. Activated automatically whenever you shift into reverse, sensors in the rear detect objects up to 8 feet away from your back bumper. As you back up,&nbsp;you hear a series of beeps; the more frequent the beeps, the closer you're getting to the object.&nbsp;When you&nbsp;approach within a foot, the beeps merge into a continuous tone, which sounds for 5 seconds. You can&nbsp;shut off&nbsp;the feature through the audio system, but why would you want to?
