our company. We are proud of our heritage - a story of 51 years of
success and stability in the Quad Cities community.
Mailen I. Mills (Bud to his friends) and his family founded MILLS
Chevrolet Co. in 1952 after gaining experience with motor vehicle
management and control during the war years, Bud Mills focused his career on selling and servicing Chevy's at the corner of 13th street and 6th avenue in downtown Moline. Although a modest facility, it had serviced the area in motor cars since Haynes cars were sold there in 1913
Eisenhower
was president and V-8 engines became the rage, along with automatic
transmission. A BelAir with a "two tone" cost about $2,300. Mills
Became the dealership with superior sales and service support. A solid
reputation of fairness helped Mills to build a firm base of repeat
customers and a healthy flow of new ones. More fine employees joined
the company - many who are still working here some 35 years later.
After
fifteen productive years, Mills outgrew his facility. He studied the
community for a new location that would help him to grow with the Quad
Cities. Mills wanted to be more regional in scope and to provide better
service. He pioneered the new location on the Deere expressway (before
it existed); his foresight enabled him to recognize the potential in an
area which today is a flourishing sector of commerce.
In 1984, Bud transferred leadership of his business to his son David,
who is now president and dealer of the company. David shares his
father's commitment to customers of Chevrolet products and quality used
cars and trucks. It doesn't matter how "big" you
are, how many cars you sell of how long you have been in business. This
is a business of building relationships with customers one at a time.
This is our basic philosophy - our formula for customer satisfaction at
MILLS Chevrolet.
