Looking Back at the Iconic Chevy Logo

This November, Chevrolet will celebrate a century of success. Since the beginning of the year Chevrolet has been celebrating but November is the official date.  And, in the spirit of this great celebration, Mills Chevrolet, serving the greater Moline, area would like to quickly review the Chevy logo.

The quintessential bowtie logo, which many would argue looks more like a cross, was allegedly conceived by Chevrolet co-founder, William Durant who tore a swatch of wallpaper from a Parisian hotel. According to The Chevrolet Story, Durant was struck by print on the paper, believed it would serve as the perfect emblem…

Chevy Kicks Off 100th Anniversary with a Woodward-Bound Parade

Chevy hasn't been shy about turning 100, this year. As such, you've likely read something about the festivities. There are many. The most recent effort to commemorate the company's 100-year history, however, was a parade that started with a vintage Dream Cruise roar of classic engines and then a moment of almost eerie silence.

Joining the posy of classic Chevrolet models (i.e., the 1944 Chevrolet Chevelle SS and 1955 Chevy Bel Air), parading down Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI, was a fleet of nearly 50 ninja-quiet, Volts EVs. There were even a handful of imminent and prospective…

New Chevrolet Orlando Available in Canada

The Chevrolet Orlando is headed to Canada, but still won't see an American dealer. General Motor's decision to keep the European-style Orlando out of US dealerships might be due to the Chevrolet Equinox available at Mills Chevrolet - 1610 39th Ave in Moline, IL, which is similar to Orlando.

Canadian audiences should get in line to check out this great new vehicle from Chevrolet. Available for a short time already in Europe, Orlando's small frame is misleading. You can fit a lot of French bread loaves and bags of pasta in the compartments of this crossover.

And it…

It’s True…The Chevy Cruze Diesel is Coming!

Mills Chevrolet can finally confirm that a diesel-powered Chevy Curze is coming to the U.S.   Since the beginning of the year there has been a lot of buzz and whisperings but until recently there was no definite answer.

In a recent interview with USA TodayDan Akerson, CEO, GM (the parent company of Chevrolet) announced that in 2013 a diesel-powered Chevrolet Cruze would be available for sale within the U.S. Particularly impressed with how quiet the new Chevy Cruze Diesel drives, Akerson said, "I drove it the other day. It was great."1

So what are the benefits…

Chevrolet Supports Spotify Music-Streaming

You're likely familiar with Chevrolet. The American automaker has, after all, been in existence for 100 years, now. You might be less familiar, however, with Spotify.  So, let us explain.

Spotify is not an automaker, like Chevrolet. Rather, they're a music-streaming service that has become wildly successful in Europe over the past two years, and has just launched in the U.S.

What ties, then, does Chevrolet have with Spotify? Chevrolet has stepped forward as one of the first supporters of Spotify, and might we add the only automaker,  to help the up-and-coming company achieve the same popularity…

Future Production Plans for the Volt

The Chevrolet Volt has been popular to say the least throughout the U.S. and Illinois.  We at Mills Chevrolet are pleased to announce that production for the Volt will increase in the coming months.

The all new hybrid electric Chevrolet Volt, General Motor's first and best alternative fuel vehicle, is making such a huge dent in their sales numbers that an increase of production has been ordered by the American auto maker. The company posted a 25% increase in sales so far in 2011. This is mostly due to the popularity of the all new Volt, redesigned Chevrolet…

Solve this Chevrolet Corvette Mystery and Win

Alright, so there's probably been one or two Chevrolet Corvettes stolen over the years. But we've never heard of a reward for a stolen Chevrolet Corvette as sweet as this.  And, we mean that quite literally... Finding this stolen Corvette will leave a sweet taste in your mouth.

Alright, we promise to stop being so vague. Here's the scoop. Celebrity pastry chef Duff Goldman, star of Ace of Cakes recently had his black 1962 Chevrolet Corvette boosted in his brother's driveway in Sherman Oaks, California. Having spent the past three years rebuilding the car, which had…

Chevrolet & Onstar Team Up with Android

General Motors is getting on board with the latest smartphone and mobile computing technology. OnStar, the onboard vehicle assistance and GPS  servic available on most Chevrolet vehicles, is going to team up with Google's Android operating system on smartphones.

The first supported devices to be announced will be those that use the Android software from Google, like the Motorola Droid and HTC Droid Incredible. The service will still be done through OnStar, with the company taking a role in developing its own apps to work with GM vehicles.

"We want to make smartphones work seamless with the connectivity of…
